Our Why

It is with great pleasure to welcome you to the Philani Cebekhulu Foundation (PC Foundation). The Philani Cebekhulu Foundation was born out of my lived experience, being born in the rural part of South Africa, receiving my education and eventually becoming an educator myself in the rural town of Mahlabathini High School. I realised the challenges students and educators were under.
On my numerous occasions of going back to rural villages of South Africa over the years it became evident that not much improvement has visited our rural areas. With 30 years since the dawn of democracy it is painfully evident that not much development has reached our rural communities and specifically in these disadvantaged schools.
The PC Foundations main focus is to develop and enhance the quality of education in rural and disadvantaged schools. One of our main focuses is to eradicate the Pit Latrine system which still exists in many of our Rural Schools.
Secondary with a focus on empowering our students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) faculties. With some of our students unable to identify an element or an cylinder for example, having never seen a periodic table, let alone a science kit. It is unfortunate that most of the students can reach high school level or secondary level without any exposure to such resources.
I founded PCF with Rural Students and Communities in mind, for positive impact and a lasting legacy of development on rural communities. The vision is to create, facilitate and implement projects that will have a long lasting, sustainable impact. This is an invitation for you to join us on this journey.
