PC Foundation Celebrates Mandela Day
Honouring Mandela’s Legacy

On 18 July 2025, the Philani Cebekhulu Foundation proudly commemorated Mandela Day by giving back to the community of Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal, echoing the spirit of service, dignity, and hope that Tata Nelson Mandela so passionately stood for.
This year’s Mandela Day was filled with meaningful engagements and impactful giving, focusing on education and warmth, two of the most pressing needs in rural communities.

Mandela Day 2025 was a reminder that small actions, multiplied, can make a meaningful difference. Over 500 students have benefitted through our Mandela Day initiatives this year.
Last year’s Blanket Drive reached 300 families in Madikwe, North West, and this year the initiative has expanded to have even greater reach and impact.
This initiative would not have been possible without the Department of Education in Ulundi who collaborated with the foundation.
Empowering Schools With Science Kits!
The day began with visits to Mahlabathini Primary School and Mahlabathini High School, where the Foundation officially handed over Science Kits to both schools. These kits are aimed at enhancing practical science learning for Grade 4-7 learners at the primary school and high school learners up to matric level.
“We believe that access to quality STEM education is a right, not a privilege,” said Annette Dlamini-Cebekhulu, CEO of the Foundation. “By equipping rural schools with science tools, we are investing in the future scientists, engineers, and innovators of tomorrow.”

Spreading Warmth at Bantubaningi High School

The final stop for the day was Bantubaningi High School, a school recently affected by heavy winds that left classrooms without roofs. As part of our Mandela Day Blanket Drive, the Foundation donated 500 warm blankets to students at the school to take home.
The gesture was not only a response to the physical cold but also a message of solidarity that even in adversity, communities are not forgotten.
The PC Foundation’s Groundbreaking Mental Health Partnership in eSwatini

The Philani Cebekhulu Foundation is proud to officially announce the launch of its Clinical Psychological Program in the Kingdom of eSwatini, a pioneering mental health initiative in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. This transformative program marks the Foundation’s expansion into eSwatini and is a testament to its commitment to holistic community development and psychosocial support across Southern Africa.
Rooted in the Foundation’s Psychosocial Pillar, the program aims to deliver vital mental health services within hospital settings, starting with trauma counselling, emotional well-being sessions, and palliative support for patients and families. Phase One will offer hospital based, one on one counselling sessions facilitated by psychologists, social workers, and trained counsellors.
This initiative also places a strong focus on supporting healthcare workers, providing debriefing sessions, mental wellness training, and ongoing psychosocial support. The program seeks to strengthen the resilience and well being of those on the frontlines of care.
This program reflects the Philani Cebekhulu Foundation’s enduring mission, to bring life and dignity in underserved communities through psychosocial support.
Vincent Shabalala Trust Donation!
In our ongoing mission to support vulnerable communities, the Philani Cebekhulu Foundation recently partnered with The Vincent Tshabalala Education Trust to donate hygiene care packages for children living in Alexandra Township.
The donation, which included hygiene packs for both girls and boys, was distributed during a recent outreach programme facilitated by The Trust, aimed at uplifting the health and dignity of children in the township.
Each hygiene pack was thoughtfully assembled with essential items such as soap, toothpaste, sanitary towels, deodorant, and other basic toiletries. These items, while often taken for granted, make a significant difference in the daily lives of children who lack consistent access to such necessities.
